Michael Dakorah, a student at Obuasi’s Asare Bediako Senior High School, is accused of robbing a motorbike rider on the road between Kwapia and Aketekyieso in the Adansi North District.
When word of the robbery spread through the community, he was apprehended by the youth of Aketekyieso.
Dakorah pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty on his own plea by Her Ladyship Ms Joyce Boahen’s court.
Mr. Martin Asenso, the Obuasi District Police Commander, told the court that on April 8, 2021, the convict, a second-year general arts student, and his accomplice, who is on the run, hired the services of a commercial motor rider to transport them from Kwapia to Aketekyieso.
On the way, the accomplice purposefully dropped his slippers, and the rider came to a halt to allow him to pick them up.
He claimed that the accomplice immediately pulled out a substance and sprayed it in the rider’s eyes, and that the convict also pulled a knife on the rider and told him to flee or face death.
According to DSP Asenso, the victim reported the incident to the people of Aketekyieso, and the youth staged an ambush on the outskirts of town, capturing the convict and transporting him to the Obuasi police station.
