The Act was followed by a detailed explanatory communique on what the SRC Health Support Act is and how students can use it to meet a variety of health support needs.

The steps to apply for support from the SRC Health Support Act are as follows:

Mode of application

  1. Applications for the health support fund must be made in writing through the executives of the departments or colleges, addressed to the health support fund committee, and submitted to the SRC Secretariat.
  2. The applicant must include a copy of their medical report, as well as the total cost of treatment.”

The SRC Health Support Act will be funded through “budgetary allocations from the SRC coffers, other solicited financial support, and a cell account created within the SRC Account.”

The Health Support Act goes a long way toward reducing the cost and burden on students who experience unexpected health issues on campus, as well as those who are battling chronic illnesses and have no way of mitigating medical expenses for such health issues.
